About The Position

The PeoplesBank Internship Program is a 10-week paid internship designed to provide students with hands-on experience in the banking industry. Interns will expand their professional network, develop workplace and leadership skills, and explore careers in banking and financial services. The program is full-time and runs from June to August. Interns will work on meaningful projects tailored to their assigned department, supported by a structured training plan. They will also participate in networking events, executive meet-and-greets, and professional development sessions. The internship is based in Holyoke, MA, and interns will be assigned to teams such as Finance/Treasury, Digital Growth, Risk Oversight, Retail Administration, Commercial Lending, Project Management, Wealth Management, IT, and Human Resources.

Requirements

  • Must be enrolled at an accredited college or university, pursuing a degree in a field relevant to the internship.
  • Leadership potential demonstrated through involvement on campus, in the community, athletics, student organizations, volunteer activities, or employment.
  • Demonstrated interest in business, banking, financial services, technology, project management, human resources, or related fields through coursework, extracurricular involvement, projects, or prior work experience.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new technologies and systems.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Outlook.
  • Ability to learn new systems and technologies quickly.

Responsibilities

  • Build a strong foundation in the products, operations, and systems unique to each department.
  • Develop a working understanding of the banking industry, with a special focus on PeoplesBank’s mission, values, and business model.
  • Strengthen workplace and leadership skills through PeoplesBank Academy and internal/external learning opportunities.
  • Complete all required compliance training and testing, adhering to federal, state, and bank regulations, policies, and service standards.
  • Prepare and deliver a professional presentation to PeoplesBank leaders, managers, peers, and stakeholders, highlighting key projects, accomplishments, lessons learned, and overall internship experience.
  • Learn daily department operations.
  • Navigate department systems and data.
  • Understand current initiatives and contribute to relevant projects.
