About The Position

Pratt & Whitney Canada (P&WC) is a global leader in aerospace innovation, proudly headquartered in Longueuil, Quebec, since 1928. We design and manufacture next-generation aircraft engines that power the world’s largest fleet of business, general aviation, and regional aircraft and helicopters. For nearly 100 years, our teams have been at the forefront of propulsion technology, pushing boundaries to make flight more efficient and reliable. Our engines support missions that truly matter, from transporting people and essential goods, to enabling emergency medical services, humanitarian operations, and wildfire suppression around the world. Pratt & Whitney Canada was named one of Canada’s Best Employers for 2026 by Forbes, marking the 11th consecutive year the company has earned this recognition. Pratt & Whitney Canada also ranked #1 employer in the aerospace and defense industry in the country. In addition, our headquarters continue to be recognized among the top employers in the Montreal region. Together, these distinctions reinforce our reputation as an employer of choice in Montreal, across Canada, and around the world. PWC is undertaking an important transformation project to create a factory line of the future for the machining of turbine discs. The project consists of creating a modern automated and digitized manufacturing line equipped with the most advanced machining centers and connectivity per Industry 4.0 standard. One of the main technologies involved is the WEDM Wire (Electrical Discharge Machining). To meet P&WC requirements, a new generation of WEDM CNC machine (7-axis) had to be designed in collaboration with the OEM. Two machines (see link for a video description https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uv3H3FhbsZI) were acquired and installed in the P&WC Innovation Center. They are equipped with new features and functionalities that do not exist elsewhere on the market. The selected candidate will participate in various projects related to these 2 machines, some of which are novel methods patented by P&WC : Development/optimization on cutting parameters for new engine program parts Validation/improvement of machine robustness (mechanical & software), could involve design proposals Development of new 3D probing/compensation cycles Testing of the new machine monitoring & connectivity systems along with signal analysis The selected candidate will be working in the Manufacturing Process Development Group and will have CNC machine hands-on training and tasks involving programming and operating the machine. He will be performing experimental work, conduct trials with a machinist, perform analysis, share results to the team. He could also be involved in the mechanical design, make and testing of components or systems.
