About The Position

The Advanced Analytics / Data Scientist co-op student will be part of a small cross-functional team focused on delivering PoCs and MVPs using data science and programming skills. You will become a hands-on subject matter expert in advanced analytics and machine learning, applying your skills to real business problems. Specializing in areas such as optimization, predictive analytics and MLOps, you will work with cutting edge technologies such as Databricks and the AWS cloud platform along with open-source libraries and frameworks.

Requirements

  • Eligible to work in Canada.
  • Enrolled in a Canadian university throughout your internship.
  • Able to work on-site in the province where you are hired if applicable.
  • Pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Computer or Software Engineering, Information Systems, or similar disciplines (Bachelor's or Master's degree).
  • Demonstrate a growth mindset and continuous learning.
  • Demonstrate strong analytical, business, and problem-solving skills combined with an agile process.
  • Strong professional verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in programming with Python (preferred), Spark, or a language in a similar discipline.
  • Proficiency with Machine Learning to solve clustering, classification, regression, anomaly detection, simulation and optimization problems on large scale data sets.
  • Proven ability to merge and transform disparate internal & external data sets together to create new features.
  • Experience in data science libraries and frameworks such as Jupyter Notebooks, Scikit-learn, Pandas, Spark.
  • Experience in development technologies such as Github, Azure DevOps, REST, CI/CD pipelines, containers, Kubernetes.
  • Working knowledge of English to read and understand specialized instructions, plans, drawings and technical terms that may emanate from international organizations, as well as to write and sometimes communicate in English with customers, suppliers or international colleagues.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in deploying machine-learning solutions.
  • Experience with data visualization tools (Tableau, Plotly, Power BI, etc.).

  • Stay current on P&WC’s AI transformation by contributing products that use AI and cloud native components.
  • Use MLOps practices and methods to plan and create AI applications to address business challenges.
