The International Pharmacy Intern is a Non-US Accredited Foreign Graduate who completes required US internship hours under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist. After passing the FPGEE and TOEFL, eligible graduates may apply to this role and complete a mixed-modality learning plan designed to build on their pharmacy education and develop knowledge, skills, and abilities in patient care, practice management, leadership, and education. The internship must be completed within 18 months. Within 120 days after completing the required US internship hours, the intern is expected to complete and pass the required pharmacist licensure exams and processes. Failure to complete the internship or obtain pharmacist licensure within the stated timeframes results in removal from the role and separation of employment. The intern contributes to a safe and effective retail pharmacy environment under a licensed pharmacist’s direct supervision. Work includes patient safety, professional pharmacy practice, regulatory compliance, quality assurance, customer service, inventory management, and workflow management, excluding final prescription verification. The role supports patient-care programs and may provide additional healthcare services permitted by state regulation, individual certification, and pharmacy leadership, including point-of-care or swab-and-send testing and immunization preparation or delivery. The role also supports pharmacy leadership and staff development, helps maintain an organized pharmacy department, participates in operational meetings and required training, and works toward business and patient-care goals. The position requires regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends, and the ability to exert specified levels of physical force to move objects, including overhead lifting.
