About The Position

The International Pharmacy Intern role is for a foreign pharmacy graduate from a non-U.S.-accredited school who has successfully passed the FPGEE and TOEFL and is eligible to complete required U.S. internship hours. Under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist, the intern supports a safe and effective retail pharmacy environment and delivers patient care while developing the knowledge and skills needed for pharmacist licensure. The mixed-modality learning plan uses the intern’s pharmacy education and experience to develop skills in patient care, practice management, leadership, and education. Required U.S. internship hours must be completed within 18 months, and required pharmacist licensure exams and processes must be completed within 120 days after the internship hours are completed. The intern contributes to patient safety, professional practice, regulatory compliance, quality assurance, customer service, inventory management, and pharmacy workflow, excluding final prescription verification. Duties include assisting customers, processing prescriptions, maintaining confidentiality and regulatory compliance, supporting pharmacy operations and patient care programs, and helping train and coordinate pharmacy support staff. The position requires an active pharmacy intern license in the state where the district is located and pharmacist licensure in the state of employment within 120 days of completing U.S. internship hours. Failure to meet the internship or licensure timelines results in removal from the role and separation of employment.
