About The Position

MedVet is a fast-growing emergency and specialty provider with practices nationwide, offering advanced medical treatments and innovations. The Internal Medicine Veterinary Assistant works with internists to provide clients with patient-care information, updates, and treatment details. The department emphasizes relationship building because patient care is longer in duration.

This is a part-time position scheduled Monday and Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. or 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Workdays may change with advance notice to meet departmental needs. The role combines animal care with client communication and includes administrative support, procedure preparation and assistance, medical-record documentation, patient discharge, and client education. Employment is contingent on passing a drug screen and background check.

Requirements

• Prior veterinary experience is required.
• Proficiency in calculations, including drug calculations, constant-rate infusions, and unit conversions.
• Flexibility with work hours and ability to work additional hours when necessary.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Must pass a drug screen and background check.

Nice To Haves

• Previous internal medicine experience is desired.

Responsibilities

• Answer telephone calls and transfer them as needed.
• Manage medical records, charts, reports, and correspondence.
• Set up for ultrasound and radiology procedures.
• Set up and assist with endoscopic procedures, including GI, nasal, urinary, and airway procedures.
• Manage appointments, obtain patient histories, and update patient information.
• Accurately and thoroughly document medical records.
• Discharge patients and provide client education.
