About The Position

MedVet is seeking a collaborative and driven part-time Internal Medicine Veterinary Assistant to join its clinical team. The Internal Medicine team works with internists to provide clients with information about patient care, updates, and treatments. Because care in this department may extend over a longer duration, the role emphasizes relationship-building with clients while supporting patient care.

The schedule is Monday and Friday, either 8 a.m.–6 p.m. or 7 a.m.–5 p.m. Workdays may change with advance notice to meet departmental needs. The position requires flexibility with working hours and the ability to work additional hours when necessary.

Employment is contingent on passing a drug screen and background check. MedVet is an equal opportunity and drug-free employer.

Requirements

• Prior veterinary experience is required.
• Proficiency in calculations, including drug calculations, constant rate infusions, and unit conversions.
• Flexibility with work hours and ability to work additional hours when necessary.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Nice To Haves

• Previous internal medicine experience is desired.

Responsibilities

• Answer telephones and transfer calls.
• Manage medical records, charts, reports, and correspondence.
• Set up for ultrasound and radiology procedures.
• Set up and assist with endoscopic procedures, including gastrointestinal, nasal, urinary, and airway procedures.
• Manage appointments, obtain patient histories, and update patient information.
• Document medical records accurately and thoroughly.
• Discharge patients and provide client education.
