About The Position

The Internal Medicine Veterinary Assistant works with internists to support patient care and provide clients with updates and information about care and treatment. Because care in this department often extends over a longer period, the role emphasizes building relationships with patients and clients while collaborating with teammates and demonstrating teamwork, leadership, and compassion.

Requirements

• Prior veterinary experience.
• Proficiency in calculations, including drug calculations, constant rate infusions, and unit conversions.
• Flexibility with work hours and ability to work additional hours when necessary.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Nice To Haves

• Previous internal medicine experience.

Responsibilities

• Set up for ultrasound and radiology procedures.
• Set up and assist with endoscopic procedures, including GI, nasal, urinary, and airway procedures.
• Manage appointments, obtain patient histories, and update patient information.
• Document medical records accurately and thoroughly.
• Discharge patients and provide client education.
