About The Position

The Internal Logistics Technician is responsible for supporting efficient material flow throughout the facility by analyzing inventory usage, designing and maintaining Kanban systems, building and organizing Kanban racks, labeling storage locations and bins, and ensuring materials are available to support production operations. This role plays a key part in maintaining lean manufacturing principles, improving material organization, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 1–3 years of experience in logistics, materials management, warehouse operations, or manufacturing support preferred.
  • Knowledge of Kanban and lean manufacturing principles.
  • Ability to read and interpret inventory reports and material usage data.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Excel and inventory management systems.
  • Ability to safely use hand tools and equipment for rack assembly and modification.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to workplace organization.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Manufacturing, or related field preferred.
  • Experience with Kanban systems, lean manufacturing, or inventory control is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze material consumption and usage patterns to determine appropriate Kanban quantities and replenishment levels.
  • Monitor inventory levels and identify shortages, excess inventory, and opportunities for optimization.
  • Support implementation and maintenance of lean material flow processes.
  • Assist in conducting cycle counts and inventory audits as required.
  • Review and update Kanban quantities based on production demand and usage trends.
  • Build, assemble, and install Kanban racks and material storage systems.
  • Configure rack layouts to maximize space utilization, accessibility, and workflow efficiency.
  • Modify existing racks as production requirements change.
  • Ensure all Kanban storage locations are safe, organized, and compliant with company standards.
  • Create, print, and apply labels for bins, racks, shelves, and storage locations.
  • Maintain accurate part number identification and inventory location labeling.
  • Support visual management initiatives by ensuring clear and consistent labeling standards.
  • Update labels and signage as materials, locations, or processes change.
  • Maintain Kanban racks, bins, cards, and visual controls to ensure system accuracy and effectiveness.
  • Perform routine inspections of Kanban areas to identify missing labels, damaged bins, or organizational issues.
  • Replenish Kanban cards and materials as required.
  • Ensure materials are stored in designated locations and follow established replenishment procedures.
  • Participate in 5S and lean manufacturing activities.
  • Recommend improvements to material handling, storage, and replenishment processes.
  • Support continuous improvement projects aimed at reducing waste and improving operational efficiency.
  • Collaborate with Production, Purchasing, Planning, and Warehouse teams to improve material flow.
