About The Position

We are currently seeking a skillful and dedicated Internal Coverage Teacher / Operations Associate to join our talented middle school team. Situated in the heart of central Brooklyn, Unity is a small, open-enrollment, community-based charter school that proudly serves students in grades 6-12. Requirements

A Bachelor's Degree; interest in pursuing a career in teaching a plus
At least two years of experience working with children or adolescents in a school, after-school, camp, tutoring, coaching, or youth-development setting
A balance of high expectations and high support, a growth mindset, and an innate joy in working with adolescents
Strong interpersonal and behavior management skills with a focus on building strong relationships with students and families
The confidence and presence to lead a classroom and deliver another teacher's lesson plans, with interest in supporting 6th grade science instruction
An openness and responsiveness to constructive feedback and a strong commitment to continuous improvement and professional growth
A strong work ethic that features organization, multi-tasking, flexibility, an orientation toward solutions, and a pride in meeting deadlines
Strong attention to detail and comfort with operational systems, spreadsheets, and Google Workspace
Strong written and oral communication skills and experience working collaboratively in team settings
Approaches the work with maturity, humility, versatility and, of course, a sense of humor

Responsibilities

Provide high-quality instruction during planned and unplanned staff absences, delivering teachers' lesson plans with fidelity and upholding classroom routines and expectations.
Support co-teaching in two 6th grade science classes, partnering with the lead teacher to deliver instruction and support small groups and individual students.
Help manage the daily coverage schedule.
Support arrival, dismissal, lunch, and transitions.
Assist with attendance, materials, school events, and testing.
