About The Position

In alignment with Gift of Life Michigan’s core purpose and core values, the Internal Communications Specialist plays a key role in shaping and delivering strategic internal communications that inform, engage and connect employees across the organization. Working closely with the Director of Marketing & Communications, this position helps execute internal communication strategies that support organizational priorities, strengthen leadership visibility and enhance employee experience.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, digital media, communications or related field plus three years’ relevant work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Two years of experience in internal communications, employee engagement, corporate communications or related field.
  • Experience planning communications for town halls, all-staff meetings or leadership events.
  • Experience demonstrating a passion for culture, employee engagement and creating meaningful workplace communications.
  • Experience exercising a high level of discretion and professionalism when handling executive or confidential communications.
  • Written and verbal fluency in English.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs, including Outlook and Teams and other technology systems used in business operations.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently, under minimal supervision, and exercise initiative.
  • Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills with the ability to adapt tone for executive and employee audiences.
  • Ability to build relationships and work collaboratively across departments and leadership levels.
  • Ability to concentrate and function with frequent distractions and interruptions.
  • Ability to critical think and problem solve, taking big picture ideas and implementing concrete tactics to reach goals.
  • Ability to analytics, trends and survey results for maximizing communication efforts.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience managing internal platforms such as intranet systems, SharePoint, Teams or email tools preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in internal communications, employee engagement, corporate communications or related field.
  • Prior experience in a healthcare organization, transplant center, or organ/tissue procurement organization.
  • Experience partnering with Human Resources or People teams on internal campaigns.
  • Experience supporting employee engagement, workplace culture or change management initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and develop content internal communication channels including, but not limited to, email communications, digital signage, newsletters and internal platforms.
  • Support communications from the CEO’s office, develop communication plans for internal initiatives, change efforts and organizational rollouts, and manage key internal communication channels including the CEO newsletter and staff meeting communications.
  • Manage and maintain the organization’s intranet to ensure timely, accurate, and engaging content.
  • Partner with Human Resources and Belonging & Inclusion teams on recognition programs, culture initiatives, learning and development and employee engagement campaigns.
  • Assist with planning and communications for staff meetings, town halls, and leadership events.
  • Maintain editorial calendars and publishing schedules for recurring internal communications.
  • Write, edit, and produce high-quality internal communications for multiple audiences and channels.
  • Gather feedback and track communication effectiveness through surveys, engagement metrics and analytics.
  • Recommend improvements based on employee insights and communication performance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
