Internal Communications Manager, Product

Anthropic•San Francisco, CA

About The Position

Anthropic is seeking an Internal Communications Manager to serve as a dedicated communications partner to its Product organization. The role is an embedded advisory position: the manager is expected to understand the organization deeply, build trusted relationships with its leaders, write on behalf of executives, and anticipate communications needs. The role also includes operational responsibilities such as planning all-hands meetings and communicating organizational changes. The Product organization connects model capabilities with customer needs. As capabilities improve and priorities shift, product launches may come together quickly, making it difficult for employees across the company to keep up with what is shipping, what is changing, and why it matters. The manager will help employees understand this work by learning about the work and the people doing it, telling its story credibly, and helping leaders communicate with clarity and candor as Anthropic scales. Anthropic's mission is to create reliable, interpretable, and steerable AI systems that are safe and beneficial for users and society. The company describes itself as a quickly growing group of researchers, engineers, policy experts, and business leaders working together to build beneficial AI systems.

Requirements

  • Have 8–12 years of experience in communications or an adjacent field involving making complex, high-stakes material clear under pressure.
  • Be an exceptional writer who can distill technical decisions and cross-functional projects into clear, compelling narratives and write convincingly in another person's voice.
  • Have experience advising senior leaders and building trusted relationships, including knowing when to push, listen, and make recommendations executives may not want to hear.
  • Be able to work credibly with engineers, product managers, and researchers; show curiosity about technical systems, ask good questions, and earn trust.
  • Be able to connect individual team updates to company strategy and mission.
  • Have a keen eye for organizational culture and recognize authentic moments worth amplifying.
  • Have a bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Have a field of study relevant to the role, as demonstrated through coursework, training, or professional experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience communicating about product, engineering, security, infrastructure, or other technical domains.
  • Experience at AI companies, frontier technology companies, or other organizations where technical work moves faster than most people can follow.
  • Experience building or running internal communications programs during periods of rapid organizational growth.

Responsibilities

  • Own the internal communications strategy for the assigned portfolio, become an expert in the team's work, and serve as a trusted member of its leadership team.
  • Advise executives on what to communicate and when, draft communications in their voice, and provide candid counsel.
  • Translate technical work into narratives that are understandable to employees across functions without losing substance.
  • Find creative ways to connect employees with the work, choosing formats suited to the message rather than defaulting to slide decks.
  • Anticipate communications needs related to launches, incidents, organizational change, and external attention, and prepare plans to keep employees informed.
  • Design and implement strategies that increase signal and reduce noise so employees understand what is important and what it means for them.
  • Plan and execute internal forums, including all-hands meetings and AMAs.
  • Use sound judgment with sensitive material, particularly when security work requires care about what is shared, with whom, and when.
  • Partner with the broader internal communications team to ensure updates are accurately and consistently shared through existing channels and live forums.

Benefits

  • Competitive compensation and benefits.
  • Optional equity donation matching.
  • Generous vacation and parental leave.
  • Flexible working hours.
  • Office space for collaborating with colleagues.
