About The Position

ICF is seeking an Internal Communications Associate to support internal communications and employee engagement for a state government agency client in North Carolina. The role involves supporting the day-to-day execution of the internal communications plan, including newsletters, announcements, onboarding materials, employee engagement activities, and recognition efforts. The associate will create clear, timely, and engaging communications to keep employees informed and connected to the agency's mission and priorities. This is an opportunity for someone who enjoys writing, organizing content, supporting events, and contributing to a positive workplace culture.

Requirements

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with attention to detail.
  • Experience supporting newsletters, internal emails, or content calendars.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Collaborative mindset with comfort working in a team environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, journalism, marketing, or a related field, or comparable professional experience.
  • 3+ years of professional experience in communications, internal communications, employee engagement, or related roles.
  • Ability to work on-site in Morrisville, NC at least four days per week.
  • Must pass background check.

  • Experience tracking communications metrics (open rates, attendance, survey feedback).

Responsibilities

  • Support development and distribution of the monthly internal newsletter, including content coordination, drafting, editing, and scheduling.
  • Assist with planning and execution of internal meetings, Lunch and Learns, staff events, and employee engagement activities.
  • Draft and distribute internal announcements and time-sensitive communications.
  • Support new employee onboarding communications, including orientation materials and employee welcome messages.
  • Assist with awards, recognition, and employee milestone communications.
  • Help manage and update organizational charts, staff directories, and internal resources.
  • Support internal surveys and feedback collection efforts.
  • Track and report on engagement metrics such as newsletter open rates, event attendance, and qualitative feedback.
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders to gather content and ensure messaging accuracy and alignment.
