About The Position

AWAL offers a modern approach to the traditional recording business, providing artists all the resources and expertise of a global label, while allowing them to retain ownership and control of their music. With local offices around the world, AWAL's services include global marketing and creative services, funding, A&R, playlist and radio promotion, publicity, distribution, synch and brand partnerships, and holistic digital expertise — including social media, audience development and fan engagement strategy, and access to real-time comprehensive music data and insights. With a mission to partner with independent artists to tell stories that shape culture, AWAL’s diverse roster ranges from rising artists to globally renowned acts, including Laufey, Little Simz, Jungle, Djo, Lil Peep, JVKE, JPEGMAFIA, Moses Sumney, Freddie Gibbs, Lauv, Yung Lean, Tom Misch and more. AWAL also helped develop the careers of an impressive roster of alumni including Steve Lacy, Rex Orange County, FINNEAS, Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, girl in red, Lizzy McAlpine, and Kim Petras, among others. The AWAL Toronto office has been open since March 2019 and along with all of our International artists, we work locally with artists such as The Beaches, Finn Wolfhard, Mikayla Geier, Bob Moses, Luna Li and a roster of developing Canadian artists.

Requirements

  • Enrolled in a post-secondary or training program with a focus on music, data analytics, entertainment, or marketing
  • Creative thinker with a passion for music
  • Conscientious and takes ownership of their work with prompt and thorough completion
  • Knowledgeable about current trends on and off social media
  • Has an understanding of the Canadian music landscape, including record labels and independent artists
  • Has attention to detail
  • Competent, with the ability to work without the help of AI

Responsibilities

  • Execute weekly DSP (streaming) placement reports
  • Manage shared release grids with information about upcoming releases for external partners
  • Work with various international teams (virtually)
  • Create audience analysis across commercial and social platforms
  • Execute weekly DSP placement reports
  • Assist with and maintain internal reporting
  • Create artist one-sheets, audience analysis documents and digital health checks
  • Update and maintain a reference list of Canadian press, influencers, tastemakers and media
  • Assist in the creation of digital marketing campaigns
  • Attend local concerts and capture content
  • Support in the setup of IRL activations
  • Assist with internal territory updates
  • Perform general admin duties
