About The Position

Plano-Coudon provides summer interns with an opportunity to apply what they are learning in the classroom to an active construction job site. By working closely with both the Project Manager and Superintendent and subcontractors, students considering construction careers will get a wealth of hands on experience and gain insight into their career goals. Interns will gain deeper understanding of general contracting, the means and methods of construction project. Our interns are team members and enjoy a range of team-building and fun activities with one another and other employees. We also provide in-house training, certification in Procore, site tours, and opportunities to learn from trade experts.

Requirements

  • Enrollment in a relevant degree program: Construction Management, Civil/Mechanical/Architectural Engineering, Architecture, or a related field.
  • Strong interest in pursuing a career in construction management.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Team-oriented mindset with excellent communication skills.
  • A proactive attitude and eagerness to learn.
  • Demonstrated sense of responsibility, urgency, and accountability.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous internship or work experience in construction or skilled trades preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist project management team with the planning and daily execution of the construction project.
  • Assist in reviewing project documents, scope development, and permit tracking during preconstruction.
  • Help prepare and review estimates, budgets, schedules, and other preconstruction deliverables.
  • Draft and manage project documentation including RFIs, submittents, meeting minutes, and change orders.
  • Support communication with subcontractors, vendors, and clients.
  • Perform data entry and assist with ongoing project reporting.
  • Accompany the Superintendent on daily site walks and follow up on action items.
  • Help track material deliveries and coordinate with vendors.
  • Monitor quality control processes, punch lists, and site safety initiatives.
  • Assist with daily logs, safety audits, and compliance with OSHA and Plano-Coudon safety standards.
  • Learn construction means and methods by observing field teams and trade partners in action.
  • Gain hands-on experience with project management software like Procore.
  • Attend all company learning sessions, site tours, and team-building events.
  • Participate in networking opportunities and company culture-building activities.
  • Participate in programming geared toward new professionals in the industry.
