About The Position

The North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG) is seeking an Intern to support transportation technology and innovative initiatives. The student in this position will assist with collecting, organizing, and analyzing information related to transportation technology projects and assist with developing insights, reports, and presentations to support regional technology planning and deployment efforts in the Dallas-Fort Worth region. Requirements

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word
  • Basic knowledge of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) or other data visualization tools to create maps, analyze data, and support transportation planning activities
  • Good communication, both verbal and written, and interpersonal skills, with ability to listen to instructions, coordinate with other team members, and present ideas
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Detail oriented, highly organized, with an ability to handle multiple assignments/tasks and work well in a deadline driven environment without diminishing quality of work
  • Must be attending an accredited college or university in a degree-seeking program during employment
  • No work experience required
  • At least one year of school-related experience

Responsibilities

  • Working with supervisor to maintain and update records for active and planned transportation technology projects across the region
  • Assisting with the Call for Projects process and working with supervisor to coordinate meetings; prepare agendas, presentations, and materials; track action items, and support coordination with internal staff and partner agencies
  • Working with supervisor to support the setup and coordination of transportation technology projects once identified
  • Assisting with research and review of transportation technology deployments in other parts of the country to identify best practices or initiatives relevant to the region
  • Drafting and preparing documents such as presentations, public outreach content, and other materials for supervisor review
