About The Position

Sephora’s 10-week internship provides hands-on learning, personal and professional networking, and projects that directly affect the business. The program includes weekly virtual workshops, networking opportunities, and career panels. The internship runs June 14 through August 20, 2027, at 36 hours per week, Monday through Friday, aligned with Pacific time. Interns may optionally participate in a summer shutdown from July 6 through July 9, 2027. As an intern on the Cloud, Infrastructure & Platform Engineering team, you will help build the foundations that make AI and agentic solutions reliable, secure, observable, scalable, and easy to adopt. You will work with platform engineers and related stakeholders to turn AI platform concepts into tested infrastructure patterns, automation, operational documentation, and measurable demonstrations. The role is remote, and eligibility requires permanently residing and working in the United States. Candidates must be open to relocating to the San Francisco Bay Area after graduation for consideration for full-time hybrid positions.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, Data Science, Applied Mathematics, or a related technical field.
  • Foundational programming or scripting experience in Python, Java, Go, JavaScript/TypeScript, Bash, or a comparable language.
  • Basic understanding of Linux, networking, APIs, Git, cloud computing, containers, or CI/CD concepts through coursework, projects, or prior experience.
  • Ability to break down problems, learn unfamiliar technology, document work clearly, and communicate with technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Interest in AI infrastructure, platform engineering, cloud engineering, DevOps, SRE, developer experience, or distributed systems.
  • Must graduate in 2027 or 2028 with an undergraduate or graduate degree.
  • Work schedule must align with 9 a.m.–5 p.m. Pacific time.
  • Must permanently reside and work in the United States.
  • Must be available June 14 through August 20, 2027.
  • Must be open to relocating to the San Francisco Bay Area upon graduation for consideration for full-time hybrid positions.

Nice To Haves

  • Exposure to one or more cloud platforms, infrastructure-as-code or CI/CD tools, containers, observability concepts, secure software development, or AI/ML platform technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Learn the current AI platform architecture, infrastructure standards, security expectations, and engineering workflows, and work with cloud, platform, DevOps, SRE, and AI engineering stakeholders to define problems and measurable acceptance criteria.
  • Build and test a focused, production-minded infrastructure or automation proof of concept in a controlled non-production environment, using infrastructure-as-code, version control, code review, automated testing, and secure configuration practices.
  • Instrument the solution with meaningful logs, metrics, traces, or dashboards to demonstrate how health, reliability, usage, performance, or cost behavior is detected and measured.
  • Evaluate reliability, scalability, operational cost, supportability, failure handling, and recovery tradeoffs; document findings in setup guidance, runbooks, architecture diagrams, test evidence, and a handoff package.
  • Present project outcomes, supporting evidence, lessons learned, and recommended next steps at the conclusion of the internship.
  • Demonstrate Sephora values: Passion, Innovation, Expertise, Balance, Respect, Teamwork, and Initiative.

Benefits

  • Caring community and collaboration with teammates focused on innovation and advancing the industry.
  • Opportunities to challenge, stretch, and develop professional skills.
  • Meaningful work with individual contributions to consumer, industry, and social impact.
