About The Position

Labcorp is seeking a Molecular Assay Development Intern to join their Research and Development Team in San Francisco, California. This 11-week paid internship is part of the 2027 Global Internship Program and offers students the opportunity to work on impactful projects, gain real-world experience, and support Labcorp's mission to improve health and improve lives. The San Francisco Research & Development team focuses on developing new tests and launching germline genetic testing product lines. This laboratory role involves developing and optimizing molecular biology assays with a focus on accuracy, reproducibility, and scalability.

Requirements

  • Current enrollment in a Bachelor’s degree program or graduate program in Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biomedical Science or Biotechnology
  • Demonstrate strong attention to detail and willingness to follow laboratory procedures
  • Eagerness to learn new laboratory skills and scientific concepts
  • Show initiative and the ability to work independently under general supervision
  • Maintains professionalism, including punctuality and appropriate conduct
  • Strong communication skills; both written and verbal
  • Preferred candidates are rising juniors and seniors (Dec 2027 through June 2029 graduation) who are currently enrolled in a relevant degree program; however, all current students pursuing related studies are encouraged to apply.

  • Perform molecular biology assays for detecting genetic variants
  • Execute experiments for Next Generation Sequencing workflows
  • Maintain detailed and organized experiment write-ups
