Intern - Research & Development - Molecular Assay Development
About The Position
Labcorp is seeking a Molecular Assay Development Intern to join their Research and Development Team in San Francisco, California. This 11-week paid internship is part of the 2027 Global Internship Program and offers students the opportunity to work on impactful projects, gain real-world experience, and support Labcorp's mission to improve health and improve lives. The San Francisco Research & Development team focuses on developing new tests and launching germline genetic testing product lines. This laboratory role involves developing and optimizing molecular biology assays with a focus on accuracy, reproducibility, and scalability.
Requirements
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor’s degree program or graduate program in Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biomedical Science or Biotechnology
- Demonstrate strong attention to detail and willingness to follow laboratory procedures
- Eagerness to learn new laboratory skills and scientific concepts
- Show initiative and the ability to work independently under general supervision
- Maintains professionalism, including punctuality and appropriate conduct
- Strong communication skills; both written and verbal
- Preferred candidates are rising juniors and seniors (Dec 2027 through June 2029 graduation) who are currently enrolled in a relevant degree program; however, all current students pursuing related studies are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities
- Perform molecular biology assays for detecting genetic variants
- Execute experiments for Next Generation Sequencing workflows
- Maintain detailed and organized experiment write-ups
