About The Position
The intern is to conduct chemistry experiments, perform rubber compounding, take measurements, analyze experimental data, write reports, and present results. The candidate must be actively enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program at the time of application and for at least one semester following the conclusion of the internship. The candidate is expected to be available 40 hours a week for a period of 10-12 weeks between the months of May and August.
Requirements
- Hands-on lab experience in chemistry or other related fields
- Literature searching skills
- Computer skills in Excel, PowerPoint and Word
- Actively enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program at the time of application and for at least one semester following the conclusion of the internship
- Available 40 hours a week for a period of 10-12 weeks between the months of May and August
- BS or BE in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, and Polymer Science and Engineering
Responsibilities
- Run different chemical reactions (organic synthesis, polymerization, or rubber compounding)
- Conduct formulation work
- Perform various tests (physical, mechanical, or rheological)
- Search literature to gain understanding of current project
- Analyze experimental data to deduce scientific conclusions
- Complete a technical report
- Present the project to pertinent group(s)
