About The Position

The Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas is seeking PhD Dissertation Fellows for the summer of 2027 to join the Research department. This program offers PhD students in economics the chance to engage in high-quality research and gain exposure to scholarly work at the Dallas Fed. Fellows will collaborate with research economists, research affiliates, visiting scholars, and other fellows in a rich academic and research environment. The program is designed to inform monetary policy and contribute to the frontier of knowledge. The internship is a paid, full-time summer position lasting approximately 10-12 weeks, beginning in mid-to-late May and concluding in August. This specific position is located in the Dallas office.

Requirements

  • Must be a PhD student from a PhD-granting institution (domestic or international).
  • Must have passed qualifying exams and reached the dissertation stage of their program.
  • Must be available for the program duration of 4 to 12 weeks during summer 2027.
  • Must be a "Protected Individual" as defined in U.S. federal immigration law (U.S. citizens, U.S. nationals, and U.S. permanent residents eligible for naturalization).
  • Permanent residents must sign a declaration of intent to become a U.S. citizen and meet other eligibility requirements.
  • Must undergo an enhanced background check.
  • Must comply with all applicable information handling rules.

Nice To Haves

  • Preference will be given to students expecting to complete their PhD in 2028.

Responsibilities

  • Engage in high-quality research.
  • Gain valuable exposure to scholarly work conducted at the Dallas Fed.
  • Collaborate with the Bank's research economists, research affiliates, visiting scholars, and other dissertation fellows.
  • Deliver a formal presentation at the Dallas Fed's brownbag seminar series during the last two weeks of their fellowship.
