About The Position

The Research Department of the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas invites applications for PhD Dissertation Fellow positions for the summer of 2027. This program provides an excellent opportunity for PhD students in economics to engage in high-quality research and gain valuable exposure to scholarly work conducted at the Dallas Fed. Fellows will have the opportunity to collaborate with the Bank's research economists, research affiliates, visiting scholars, and other dissertation fellows, fostering a rich academic and research environment.

Requirements

Open to PhD students from all PhD-granting institutions (both domestic and international).
Applicants must have passed their qualifying exams and reached the dissertation stage of their program.
The program will be held in-person in Dallas, lasting from 4 to 12 weeks, during summer 2027.
Must be a 'Protected Individual' as defined in U.S. federal immigration law (U.S. citizens, U.S. nationals, and U.S. permanent residents who either are not yet eligible to apply for naturalization or who have applied for naturalization within the requisite timeframe).
Permanent residents may be eligible if they sign a declaration of intent to become a U.S. citizen and meet other eligibility requirements.
Must undergo an enhanced background check and comply with all applicable information handling rules.

Preference will be given to students expecting to complete their PhD in 2028.

Responsibilities

Engage in high-quality research.
Gain valuable exposure to scholarly work conducted at the Dallas Fed.
Collaborate with the Bank's research economists, research affiliates, visiting scholars, and other dissertation fellows.
Deliver a formal presentation at the Dallas Fed's brownbag seminar series during the last two weeks of their fellowship.
