Intern – Operations and Maintenance Engineering
About The Position
Hitachi Rail is seeking an enthusiastic, self-motivated Operations and Maintenance Engineering Intern for Summer 2027. The position is based onsite in Pearl City, Hawaii. The intern will gain hands-on experience in urban transit and mobility while supporting the team and learning about Hitachi Rail’s work and impact. The internship offers real-world projects, mentorship, intern events, and a paid opportunity to build a career with a global leader in digital transformation and innovation. Requirements
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to communicate complex technical information.
- Strong relevant technical skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Attention to detail and ability to multitask.
- Current engineering student at a four-year university, with an expected graduation date between December 2027 and December 2028.
- English proficiency.
Responsibilities
- Analyze field data to help define the correct failure rate and maintenance needs for each piece of equipment.
- Contribute to the preparation of field analysis reports.
- Contribute to O&M documentation and participate in internal design reviews, including documenting meeting minutes and actions.
- Contribute to the preparation of O&M Management Plans, Operation Plans, Maintenance Plans, training plans, and lists of spare parts and special tools.
- Participate in projects, bidding, and delivery phases within the project schedule.
