About The Position
Hitachi Rail is seeking an enthusiastic, self-motivated Operations and Maintenance Engineering intern for Summer 2027. The position is based onsite in Pearl City, Hawaii. The internship provides hands-on experience supporting the team and offers exposure to urban transit and mobility. Interns will work on real-world projects, receive mentorship, and participate in intern events. The hourly rate is $22.00.
Requirements
- Current engineering student at a four-year university, with an expected graduation date between December 2027 and December 2028.
- English proficiency.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to communicate complex technical information.
- Strong relevant technical skills.
- Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite.
- Attention to detail and ability to multitask.
Responsibilities
- Analyze field data to help define the correct failure rate and maintenance needs for each piece of equipment.
- Contribute to preparing field analysis reports.
- Contribute to Operations and Maintenance (O&M) documentation and participate in internal design reviews, including documenting minutes and actions.
- Contribute to preparing O&M Management Plans, Operation Plans, Maintenance Plans, Training Plans, and Spare Parts and Special Tools lists.
- Participate in projects, bidding, and delivery phases within the project schedule.
