About The Position

The American Heart Association’s Internship Program provides college students an opportunity for hands-on experience in various facets for individuals interested in gaining work experience with a non-profit, voluntary health organization. The NextGen Programs internship will work with our Scholars and Business Accelerator Teams to gain professional experience with a national non-profit organization while working directly to create compelling content for our healthy living website. Requirements

  • College Seniors and Graduate students studying program management, content marketing, general marketing and/or communications.
  • Effective oral (one-on-one and group; virtual meetings; phone), written (consumer-facing educational resources, email) and presentation communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate professionally in a corporate and non-profit environment and assume responsibility for guiding projects from inception through completion.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment managing multiple priorities involving multiple entities.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Reliable WiFi Connection
  • Minimum availability of 20 hrs/wk, M-F between the hours of 8:30am-5pm EST.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship, now or in the future. For any roles working remotely, the work must also be performed inside the United States, not in a foreign country.

Nice To Haves

  • Fluency in another language (Spanish or Mandarin).
  • Project management and event planning experience.

Responsibilities

  • Work with the team to help coordinate day-to-day logistics of accelerator programming, including workshops, speaker sessions, pitch events and mentoring.
  • Manage program calendar and scheduling with internal staff, cohort participants and external stakeholders.
  • Track project milestones, deliverables and timelines to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Provide on-site or virtual event support (e.g., set-up, technical troubleshooting, note-taking).
  • Support communication and communication materials with volunteers, mentors, collaborators, guest speakers and sponsors.
  • Assist in outreach efforts to recruit entrepreneurs, judges volunteers or service providers.
  • Help coordinate program events.
  • Track and report key performance indicators (KPIs) and outcomes related to cohort progress and program impact.
  • Assist with surveys, impact reports and funder updates.
  • Develop materials for meetings (e.g., agenda, compile notes, gather exhibits, etc.)
