About The Position

Through the National Shipbuilding Strategy (NSS), the Government of Canada has embarked on one of the largest procurement projects since the Second World War. The NSS is a nation-building effort to create a sustainable Canadian shipbuilding industry, secure long-term job opportunities and build the next generation of ships for the Canadian Coast Guard and Royal Canadian Navy. Through its NSS–related work, Seaspan Shipyards is owning the redevelopment of our domestic shipbuilding industry on the West Coast and delivering on the promise of ships built in Canada, by Canadians. As Intern, Master Scheduling, you will gain hands-on experience in production planning and coordination at Seaspan’s Operations Center in North Vancouver. Working alongside experienced planners, you will help maintain alignment between integrated master schedules and enterprise resource planning systems, ensuring accurate, up-to-date information that supports vessel construction. You will develop a strong understanding of ship build strategies, scheduling tools, and production workflows while collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders to keep projects on track. You’ll contribute to maintaining critical planning systems, supporting standard operating procedures, and identifying opportunities for continuous improvement in scheduling processes. Note: Due to business needs, this position is required to be fully on-site based at Ops Center (50 Pemberton Avenue), North Vancouver.

Requirements

  • Enrollment in a 2nd or 3rd year degree program.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to understand and interpret build strategy documents and basic technical drawings.
  • Familiarity with document management systems and database tools.
  • Capable of working effectively both independently with minimal guidance and collaboratively within a team.
  • Clear communication and interpersonal skills to convey procedures and guidelines effectively.
  • Solid organizational and time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities to support continuous improvement in production processes.
  • Strong attention to detail while maintaining awareness of overall objectives and priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Understand general build strategy
  • Understand L3 activities in IMS
  • Understand IFS/Oracle MRP System
  • Maintain Alignment between IMS and IFS/Oracle System
  • Provide support to responsible planners to maintain SOP to the latest
  • Maintain Master Scheduling SharePoint site to the latest
  • Coordinate with various stakeholders when required
  • Perform additional duties as assigned
