Through the National Shipbuilding Strategy (NSS), the Government of Canada has embarked on one of the largest procurement projects since the Second World War. The NSS is a nation-building effort to create a sustainable Canadian shipbuilding industry, secure long-term job opportunities and build the next generation of ships for the Canadian Coast Guard and Royal Canadian Navy. Through its NSS–related work, Seaspan Shipyards is owning the redevelopment of our domestic shipbuilding industry on the West Coast and delivering on the promise of ships built in Canada, by Canadians. The Intern, Design Build is responsible for production engineering on new construction projects at Vancouver Shipyards. Under the direction of the Supervisor, Design Build, the intern participates in all phases of new construction design projects from a Production Engineering perspective to improve productivity and remove waste including the development of assigned analysis and projects in the areas of ship design and shipbuilding, production engineering, build strategy development, production process development, new materials analysis, dimensional and accuracy control, and design for production. Note: Due to business needs, this position is required to be fully on-site based at 2 Pemberton Avenue, North Vancouver.
