Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a degree program at an accredited college or university in a field of study related to the internship, or a recent graduate (within the last 6-12 months) required.
  • Work experience in an office or clinical environment, as applicable to the internship required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong computer skills; proficient in Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
  • Organizational and customer service skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle detailed work accurately and quickly, work to deadlines on multiple tasks, and to work as a team member in a collaborative and participatory manner, and to interact both in person and remotely with a courteous and professional demeanor.
  • Ability to work independently with drive and initiative as well as work well within a team setting.
  • Demonstrated self-learner interested in continued professional development and personal growth.

Nice To Haves

  • 1-2 years of work experience of any capacity (can be positions held while in school, volunteer, or club experience) that is directly relevant to the internship preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in telemedicine outreach by placing outbound phone calls to patients and providers to facilitate linkage to medical, behavioral health, and social services.
  • Assist Health Navigators in connecting patients to follow-up care for communicable diseases, STIs, and SUDs.
  • Document patient interactions, referrals, and outcomes in the electronic medical record (EMR) and related tracking tools.
  • Collect, log, and maintain patient data in Excel and Google Sheets with accuracy and confidentiality.
  • Handle protected health information (PHI) in strict accordance with HIPAA and organizational privacy standards.
  • Provide general administrative and operational support for day-to-day business transactions.
  • Attend team meetings, case conferences, and cross-functional discussions; contribute observations and insights where appropriate.
  • Collaborate with the Practice Lead, Health Navigators, and clinical staff on active projects, offering assistance and fresh perspectives.
  • Support special projects and pilot initiatives as assigned, including data collection, research, and process-improvement efforts.
  • Provide support for general business transactions.
  • Attend meetings and provide insight into discussions.
  • Collaborate on specific projects, offering assistance and contributing fresh ideas.
  • Participating in special projects as needed.
  • Attend training sessions or workshops to enhance skills and knowledge.
  • Seek feedback and actively engage in the learning process.
