About The Position
McCarthy Improvement (MCI), a member of the McCarthy-Bush family of companies, is a heavy highway and construction company focused on infrastructure development with a commitment to safety and quality. They seek motivated interns to assist estimators, project managers, and field supervisors with estimation and project coordination. This full-time role is scheduled for 32-40 hours per week with a flexible start date. Interns will be based in Davenport, Iowa.
Requirements
- Pursuing any level college degree or trade program focusing on construction management, design, engineering, or other construction trades.
- Ability to prioritize work and meet project deadlines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Nice To Haves
- Proficiency using Bluebeam.
- Proficiency using Microsoft Office products, including Excel.
Responsibilities
- Assist estimators, project managers, and field supervisors with estimation and project coordination.
- Estimate cost for change orders.
- Solicit bidders and suppliers.
- Coordinate subcontractor activity and vendor purchase orders.
- Schedule various contracts and materials.
- Prepare quantity takeoffs.
- Participate in site visits and observations.
- Assist with quality and document control.
- Write RFIs and submittals.
- Assist in change orders.
- Collect and report data.
