The Distributed Energy Resources (DER) Intern will support the planning, design, and delivery of power, utility, and renewable energy projects while gaining hands-on experience working alongside engineers and project teams. This role provides exposure to electrical design, power distribution systems, and related engineering disciplines, offering opportunities to develop technical and professional skills in a collaborative environment.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or a related field from an accredited technical school, college, or university.
  • Must be able to commute to our Littleton, MA office.
  • Strong interest in power systems, renewable energy, and electrical design.
  • Experience with or familiarity with AutoCAD.
  • Previous work experience in the power delivery, utility, or renewable energy industry.
  • Electrical apprentice experience and/or working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC).

Responsibilities

  • Assisting with the preparation and modification of electrical design drawings using AutoCAD.
  • Supporting system design, power calculations, and engineering analyses.
  • Assisting with the design and documentation of power distribution and utility infrastructure projects.
  • Performing engineering calculations, data collection, and technical research under the guidance of project engineers.
  • Supporting project teams with drafting, design reviews, and quality control processes.
  • Participating in field visits and site assessments as needed.
  • Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver innovative and practical engineering solutions.
  • Learning and applying industry standards, engineering best practices, and relevant electrical codes, including the National Electrical Code (NEC).
