Intern - Consumer Banking (Muncie Market)
About The Position
First Merchants is seeking highly motivated, enthusiastic college students for its 12-week paid 2027 Summer Internship Program. The Consumer Banking Intern will collaborate with different levels of management across the business to gain exposure and assist with functions that support clients’ everyday banking needs. The internship provides opportunities to observe frontline associates and Regional Operations Managers in activities that support banking center operations; observe and assist bankers serving clients; and observe and assist managers at the banking center, market, regional, and line-of-business levels as they execute First Merchants’ sales processes. Interns also participate in a coordinated community service project, network with executive and senior leadership at an Intern Meet & Greet, and present a summary of their experience at the end of the program. The program runs from May 17 through August 6, 2027, and requires availability for 40 hours per week. Periodic travel throughout the First Merchants footprint may be required, if applicable.
Requirements
- Be a full-time Bachelor’s degree-seeking student, or pursuing a higher degree, at an accredited college or university.
- Be available to work 40 hours per week from May 17 through August 6, 2027.
- Be authorized to work in the United States.
- Have demonstrated interest in the financial services industry and/or the specific area of interest.
- Have a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- Be able and willing to travel periodically throughout the First Merchants footprint, if applicable.
- Demonstrate initiative, enthusiasm, a strong work ethic, a team mentality, and self-motivation.
Responsibilities
- Observe frontline associates and Regional Operations Managers in daily and weekly activities that support banking center operations.
- Observe and assist bankers as they help clients with everyday banking needs.
- Observe and assist Banking Center Managers, Market Management, Regional Management, and Line of Business Management in executing First Merchants’ sales processes.
- Participate in a coordinated community service project.
- Network with executive and senior leadership at the Intern Meet & Greet event.
- Present a summary of the internship experience at the conclusion of the program.
