About The Position

First Merchants is seeking highly motivated, enthusiastic college students for our 12-week paid summer internship program. The Consumer Banking Intern will collaborate with various levels of management across the line of business to gain exposure and assist with functions that support meeting client needs in everyday banking. This internship offers hands-on experience in the financial services industry, opportunities to work on meaningful projects, mentorship from experienced professionals, relationship building with leaders, networking and development events, and a coordinated community service project. Interns will also present their accomplishments and key learnings to senior leadership.

Requirements

Be a full-time Bachelor (or higher) degree-seeking student at an accredited college or university.
Be available to work 40 hours per week from May 17th - August 6th, 2027.
Be authorized to work in the United States.
Have demonstrated interest in the industry and/or specific area of interest.
Possess a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
Be able and willing to travel periodically throughout the First Merchants footprint, if applicable.

Responsibilities

Observe frontline associates and Regional Operations Managers in their daily and weekly activities that support the operations of banking centers.
Observe and assist bankers as they help clients with their everyday banking needs.
Observe and assist various levels of management, including Banking Center Manager, Market Management, Regional Management, and Line of Business Management, in executing First Merchants’ Sales processes.
Participate in a coordinated community service project.
Network with Executive and Senior Leadership at our Intern Meet & Greet event.
Present a summary of their experience at the conclusion of the internship program.
