About The Position
SECURA Insurance is hiring a Commercial Lines Underwriting Intern based at its Neenah, Wisconsin campus, with an anticipated start in June 2027. The intern works alongside underwriting staff, shadows colleagues, completes insurance-related coursework, and performs project work. The role is full-time during the summer at 40 hours per week and may transition to part-time, 15–20 hours per week, while school is in session. SECURA notes that many interns are hired as full-time associates after graduation.
Requirements
- Be a junior or senior undergraduate student pursuing a business-focused degree.
- Be a self-starter.
- Be able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Be able to analyze underwriting data and make decisions.
- Have skills in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Responsibilities
- Underwrite small business renewal accounts from start to finish.
- Support underwriters with new-business prospect file setup, which may include website searches, diagrams, aerial photos, building value estimates, loss run evaluations, and driving record reviews.
- Learn about the insurance industry through coursework, self-study, job shadowing, and ride-along opportunities.
- Perform targeted project work.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
