The Intern Case Manager/Therapist works with a multidisciplinary team—including psychiatrists, nurses, and mental health technicians—to help stabilize patients experiencing mental health and substance abuse crises. As part of Social Services, the intern learns and participates in assessment, individualized treatment planning, management of patients’ psychosocial needs, crisis planning, and discharge planning. The role also involves communicating with patients’ families and support networks, conducting cognitive-model group therapy, and managing multiple competing demands throughout the day. Social Services includes full-time and part-time employees working various days of the week. Weekday and weekend schedules are available, and flexible schedules are offered. After obtaining licensure, an intern may have the opportunity to move into a part-time or full-time position if desired.
