About The Position

Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP is a leading international law firm with more than 900 lawyers in offices throughout the United States, Europe, Asia and the Middle East. We are currently seeking an Intern in our Attorney Recruiting & Development department, reporting directly to the Attorney Recruiting & Development Manager. We are looking for either a full-time or part-time (available for about 20 hours a week) from approximately October 2026 to April 2027 . The position will reside in the Houston office and is a great opportunity for someone interested in gaining hands-on experience in attorney recruiting and development within a leading international law firm. The Attorney Recruiting & Development Intern will support the Texas recruiting team during the fall and winter recruiting cycle, with a primary focus on law student outreach, 1L recruiting, candidate interviews and recruiting events. The ideal candidate is proactive, resourceful, organized and self-motivated, with the judgment and professionalism to interact confidently with candidates, attorneys, law school personnel and firm staff. We are looking for someone who takes initiative, communicates effectively, follows through on details and is eager to learn.

Requirements

High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Currently enrolled in or completed degree from accredited university or college.
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
Comfort learning and working in database and document management systems; experience with ViRecruit, FloRecruit, NetDocuments or similar systems is a plus.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining accurate, organized and up-to-date records and materials.
Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate professionally and tactfully with candidates, attorneys, staff, vendors and law school personnel.
Outgoing and service-oriented, with the judgment and professionalism required to represent the firm in candidate-facing settings.
Proactive, resourceful and self-motivated, with the ability to take initiative, identify next steps and follow assignments through to completion.
Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and adjust to changing needs in a professional manner.
Ability to work independently, collaborate effectively as part of a team and seek guidance when appropriate.
Ability to maintain confidentiality of candidate, firm and personnel information.
Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines and project milestones.
Willingness and ability to assume new tasks and responsibilities.
Ability to work extended hours as needed, particularly during peak recruiting periods.

Responsibilities

Support fall and winter law student recruiting initiatives, including campus outreach, 1L recruiting, candidate interviews and recruiting events.
Coordinate logistics for in-office and virtual student interviews, including interview schedules, conference room or Zoom arrangements, candidate communications and attorney materials.
Prepare conference and meeting rooms for recruiting interviews and events, and help ensure rooms remain neat, orderly and appropriately stocked throughout the event.
Greet candidates upon arrival, provide a professional and welcoming experience and help ensure interviews run smoothly and on schedule.
Plan and coordinate coffees, lunches, dinners and other touchpoints with prospective candidates throughout the recruiting cycle.
Assist with drafting and preparing correspondence and other communications to prospective candidates, including outreach and follow-up communications for 1L recruiting.
Assist with planning and executing recruiting programs and events, including coordinating invitations, RSVPs, venues, catering, supplies and other event logistics.
Create and organize nametags, swag, and other event materials for students and attorneys for firm-hosted and campus recruiting events.
Maintain accurate and timely candidate information in ViRecruit, including candidate status, interview information, schedules, communications and related reporting.
Maintain organized and current recruiting files and materials in NetDocuments and other shared systems, including filing, updating and quality-checking documents.
Update and prepare candidate materials, reports and supporting documents for hiring committee meetings and other internal recruiting discussions.
Manage recruiting promotional items and supplies, including maintaining inventory, organizing materials and coordinating shipments for campus events, candidates and other recruiting activities.
Track and process recruiting expenses using ChromeRiver accounting software.
Assist with other special projects as assigned.
