About The Position

Stoel Rives LLP has an immediate opening for an Attorney Recruiting Manager in either our Portland or Seattle office. The Attorney Recruiting Manager oversees lateral associate recruiting for all practice groups and supports elements of the lateral partner recruiting process. The position works closely with firm leadership including the Chief Talent and Recruiting Officer, Practice Group Leaders, Practice Group Directors, and Office Administrators. The position reports to the Chief Talent and Recruiting Officer and supervises one Attorney Recruiting Coordinator.

  • Minimum of 8-10 years of recruiting experience within a law firm, legal organization, or law school career services office; a combination of these experiences is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated success managing lateral attorney recruitment at multiple levels and across a variety of practice areas, including strategic sourcing, candidate development, interview management, and offer negotiation support.
  • Strong understanding of law firm organizational structures, legal practice areas, attorney career progression, and the competitive legal talent market.
  • Proven ability to build trusted and productive partnerships with firm leadership, practice group leaders, practice area leaders, search firms, and business services colleagues.
  • Exceptional organizational, communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills, with a high degree of professionalism, discretion, and attention to detail.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with law firm software, such as iManage, Visio, Emburse, Laurel, Aderant, Intapp, Maptician, Box, Workshare Compare, Metadata Assistant, WestlawNext, WestCheck, and InterAction is preferred
  • Advanced degree, HR certification, or other relevant professional credential is a plus.
  • Experience with viRecruit, Flo Recruit, Workday, and Microsoft Office applications strongly preferred; experience with recruiting analytics, applicant tracking systems, and event management platforms is also desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the full-cycle lateral associate recruiting process, including sourcing, screening, interviewing, evaluating and selecting candidates, extending offers, and onboarding.
  • Partner with practice group leaders to understand strategic hiring needs, practice-specific experience requirements, market conditions, and candidate profiles necessary to support business objectives.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with legal search firms and referral sources to build a highly qualified candidate pipeline.
  • Proactively generate and cultivate candidate pools through LinkedIn Recruiter, internal referrals, bar associations and industry organizations, professional networks, and other sourcing tools.
  • Review resumes and candidate materials, conduct preliminary assessments, and work with practice group leaders and other partners to identify and recommend high-potential candidates for consideration.
  • Coordinate and manage all aspects of the interview process, including scheduling, interview preparation, candidate communications, interview feedback collection, and evaluation discussions.
  • Lead lateral associate onboarding in collaboration with other administrative departments.
  • Support the lateral partner recruiting process including facilitating the candidate interview and evaluation process, post-offer administrative processes, and onboarding; facilitate a positive recruitment experience for all lateral partner candidates.
  • Supervise and mentor the Attorney Recruiting Coordinator, establishing priorities, workflows, and development opportunities while ensuring accurate and efficient recruiting operations.
