The Advanced Intelligence Lab at Samsung Research America is developing a unified AI voice-assistant experience across Galaxy smartphones, Galaxy Watch, smart-home appliances, and IoT devices. The team applies advanced AI technology to make Bixby more intuitive, faster, seamless, powerful, and capable across product domains, with the goal of improving users’ lifestyles. Bixby is an intelligent personal assistant built into Samsung flagship devices and wearables. Its Agentic AI framework uses natural language understanding to interpret user intentions, answer questions, and perform tasks such as making calls, sending messages, setting meetings, opening apps, setting alarms and timers, providing directions, and answering general questions. The intern will work with engineers on applied research and on-device Agentic AI solutions, help develop and maintain software products, and contribute to next-generation assistant services across Samsung flagship devices. The role involves developing agents and tools for Bixby’s agentic framework; creating intelligent systems and hybrid reasoning models; building web-intelligence and knowledge-driven answer-engine features; developing and fine-tuning hybrid models for on-device compilation and edge computation; and monitoring and improving model efficiency and performance. The intern will write production code, primarily in Python and/or Java, participate in product concepts and proof-of-concept prototypes, and collaborate with the larger team. The position is performed in an office setting.
