About The Position

The CMA CGM Group is a global leader in shipping and logistics. This role is responsible for handling, monitoring, and coordinating shipments for door collection and/or delivery. The Intermodal Coordinator works collaboratively with internal and external organizations, including customers, truck vendors, and CMA CGM business teams, to ensure Intermodal cargo is moved efficiently and in an expedited manner. The position requires following standard operating procedures, utilizing required work tools, and identifying and escalating problems or issues to management.

Requirements

  • High School Degree Required
  • General Experience 1-2 Years
  • Knowledgeable of Intermodal general operating procedures
  • Proficient computer skills to include LARA and all Microsoft Office applications
  • Detail-Oriented person with strong organization skills
  • Works collaboratively with team members
  • Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrates strong customer service skills and passion
  • Good interpersonal, organizational and problem solving skills

Responsibilities

  • Analyze, plan, and prioritize inland haulage according to import/export timetables, terminal/rail schedules, special equipment needs, and client-specific delivery conditions.
  • Facilitate the movement of containers that have been miss-routed and/or improperly discharged due to vessel by-passes, errors, or equipment emergencies.
  • Confirm and manage in-house truck availability.
  • Procure spot rates for lanes not previously negotiated with truck vendors.
  • Ensure over-the-road compliance for all hazardous door moves.
  • Create and issue work orders for door collection and/or delivery in accordance with established truck rates and distribution percentages.
  • Monitor shipments by tracking and tracing containers via multiple interfaces to ensure door appointments are met and cargo is loaded/delivered timely.
  • Communicate potential delays or issues preventing dispatch to customers and maintain customer interactions until all delivery requirements are satisfied.
  • Work collaboratively with internal departments (Overseas Offices, Home office, Customer service, Operations, Sales, Trade) to expedite transport.
  • Discern and elevate to management matters that require additional support.
  • Manage a significant volume of telephone and written communication within agreed upon Service Level Agreements.
  • Notify and invoice/rebill customers for additional transport-related expenses including pre-pulls, revenue-generating trucker yard and container yard storage, multi-stops, and drop and picks.
  • Research and reconcile truck and customer invoice discrepancies.
  • Identify opportunities through micro analysis of customer locations for cost savings, which includes match backs/one ways.
  • Determine, if requested by vendors, whether accessorial charges are applicable.
  • Monitor and report trucker performance to Management.
  • Document pertinent dispatch-related information to ensure maintenance of timely and accurate records.
  • Develop and maintain rapport with vendors.
  • Perform miscellaneous related duties or projects as assigned.
