About The Position

The Athletic Coach is responsible for organizing, supervising, and instructing student-athletes in the assigned sport while promoting sportsmanship, teamwork, skill development, and character. The coach supports the district’s educational mission by providing a safe and positive athletic experience for all participants. This role also involves nurturing positive relationships with colleagues, demonstrating respect, supporting corporate decisions, and working as a team player while handling sensitive issues tactfully and professionally.

  • Nurturing positive relationships with colleagues.
  • Demonstrating respect for colleagues.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and conduct practices, training sessions, and competitions.
  • Teach sport-specific skills, rules, and strategies.
  • Promote good sportsmanship, teamwork, and responsible behavior among student-athletes.
  • Supervise student-athletes during practices, games, travel, and related activities.
  • Ensure compliance with district policies and rules established by the Indiana High School Athletic Association (IHSAA).
  • Monitor student-athlete academic eligibility and encourage academic success.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents/guardians, school staff, and administration.
  • Maintain equipment, uniforms, and program records.
  • Model professionalism and positive conduct consistent with district expectations.
  • Nurture a positive relationship with super-ordinates, subordinates and peers.
  • Demonstrate respect for super-ordinates, subordinates and peers.
  • Support corporation decisions and direction relative to matters of policy and administrative directives.
  • Work as a team player.
  • Demonstrate ability to deal with sensitive issues in a tactful and professional manner.
  • Address concerns and offer suggestions in an appropriate and confidential manner.
