About The Position

The Intermediate Property Claims Examiner is responsible for commercial and personal property claims on a national level within established authority level. This position involves claims of moderate complexity and severity.

Requirements

  • College Diploma or University Degree completed
  • Enrolled in and working toward (F)CIP designation
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of experience with commercial and personal property claims
  • Exceptional team player yet capable of operating independently to meet deadlines, prioritize workloads and achieve established service and performance standards
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong diagnostic, analytical, organization, negotiation and time management skills
  • Ability to bring resources together to achieve desired objectives and outcomes

Nice To Haves

  • In depth knowledge of residential construction procedures, methods, techniques and building and property estimating software programs experience would be a bonus

Responsibilities

  • Investigation, evaluation and settlement of claims of moderate complexity and severity, mainly through claims examining with occasional direct handing responsibilities.
  • Review and analyze policy conditions, provisions, exclusions and endorsements pertinent to a variety of property losses
  • Verify loss details and confirm coverage related to assigned claims
  • Review amounts on all estimates, invoices and documentation in support of payments
  • Document claim files with appropriate particulars of claim and claim handling adhering to claim documentation standards
  • Maintain timely and accurate claim reserves on files
  • Proactive identification, optimization and coordination of post-loss recovery opportunities, identification of potential sources of recovery and ensure salvage and subrogation opportunities are identified and pursued to minimize claim losses
  • Prepare reports to management and reinsurers
  • Actively participate in settlement of claims at meetings, conferences, and mediations
  • Support all marketing and client/customer service initiatives
  • Oversight, monitoring and review of claims activities and services performed by third party claims administrator
