Trans Mountain Corporation operates Canada’s only pipeline system transporting oil products to the West Coast. Trans Mountain is seeking a collaborative, motivated, and values driven individual to join our dynamic team as an Intermediate Engineer (Electrical) In this position, you will play a key role in providing engineering oversight and technical support for electrical systems associated with pipeline and facility major projects. The role reviews electrical engineering deliverables produced by EPC contractors and engineering consultants to ensure designs meet company standards, industry codes, and regulatory requirements.   This position supports the development and execution of projects involving pump stations, pressure control facilities, and terminals designed in accordance with CSA Z662 Oil and Gas Pipeline Systems and regulatory expectations under the Canada Energy Regulator.

Requirements

  • Post-secondary education with a Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Registered as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Province of Alberta and / or British Columbia
  • 7–10 years of engineering experience in oil and gas, pipeline, or midstream facilities.
  • Experience working with EPC contractors and multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Familiar with industrial electrical power distribution systems, Motor control centers (MCCs) and motor drives, Hazardous area electrical design, Electrical grounding and lightning protection systems, Electrical load calculations and equipment sizing, Electrical safety practices and arc flash considerations
  • Strong electrical engineering review capability
  • Ability to interpret engineering standards and codes
  • A track record of delivering high‑quality work, managing competing priorities, and supporting key business processes or operational functions.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with colleagues and stakeholders from a variety of backgrounds and levels across the organization.
  • Effective communication skills, including the ability to convey information clearly, respectfully, and professionally.

  • May need to provide support outside of regular business hours and/or on the weekend.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting pipeline stations or midstream facilities is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Review electrical engineering deliverables prepared by EPC contractors and engineering consultants.
  • Ensure design complies with corporate standards, CSA Z662 and applicable electrical codes and regulations
  • Provides technical input and comments on engineering documents including Single-line diagrams, electrical load lists, motor control centre specifications, power distribution and other documentation.
  • Support design and execution of electrical systems associated with pump stations, electrical power distribution, emergency power and backup systems, electrical equipment in hazardous locations and other systems along the pipeline.
  • Support projects in meeting regulatory requirements administered by the Canada Energy Regulator.
  • Ensure designs align with applicable Canadian electrical standards and codes including, Canadian Electrical Code and CSA Z462.
  • Assist with preparation and review of documentation required for regulatory submissions and project assurance processes.
  • Participate in engineering design reviews, including HAZOP, electrical system design reviews, constructability and 3D model reviews.
  • Coordinate electrical design interfaces with other engineering disciplines including mechanical, instrumentation, process, and civil teams.
  • Support Supply Chain Management (SCM) team in selection of vendors and vendor document reviews
  • Support the resolution of technical issues and engineering queries during project execution.
  • Provide engineering support during construction and commissioning phases.
  • Review and respond to field change requests, requests for information (RFIs), technical deviations, and non-conformance reports.
  • Participate in site visits and inspections to verify installation and compliance with electrical design requirements.
