Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related discipline.
  • Registered with APEGA or ASET.
  • P.Eng or P.Tech.(Eng.) certification is required.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in electrical engineering.
  • Experience with electrical power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, security, communications, and control systems.
  • Strong understanding of Canadian Electrical Code, National Building Code and applicable industry standards.
  • Proven ability to coordinate small or medium design packages.

  • Familiarity in the following categories would be beneficial: Commercial and/or Industrial Building electrical designs
  • Familiarity in the following categories would be beneficial: Distribution and backup power systems
  • Familiarity in the following categories would be beneficial: Security, door access, CCTV system understanding
  • Familiarity with Alberta Infrastructure and/or Defense Construction Canada design requirements.
  • AutoCAD, Revit, SKM and/or ETAP experience would be an asset

Responsibilities

  • Lead and support electrical engineering design for Building Services team including: commercial, institutional, and industrial facilities.
  • Prepare detailed design documents including calculations, reports, drawings, and specifications.
  • Model electrical power systems (up to 750V) using tools such as SKM.
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams and participate in project meetings.
  • Conduct site assessments and construction reviews to verify compliance with design requirements.
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers and technologists.
  • Assist with project planning, scheduling, cost estimates, and client communications.
