About The Position

The Interior Radar Development Support Engineer performs hands-on support for in-cabin radar systems, including firmware and model flashing, calibration, data collection and quality checks, dataset preparation, routine machine-learning runs, and regression testing. The role maintains organized data and test infrastructure so validation and algorithm teams can receive usable data promptly. The engineer works closely with the radar lead, validation engineer, data collection team, and algorithm, firmware, and tools teams. The work includes supporting testing in chambers, laboratories, and vehicles; improving scripts and instrumentation; reproducing issues for root-cause analysis; maintaining test documentation and setups; coordinating test logistics; and supporting customer demonstrations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (electrical, computer, mechatronics, systems, or a related area) or equivalent.
  • Five years of experience in the automotive industry, preferably in automotive electronics, in a similar role.
  • Three years of hands-on experience with electronic hardware, automotive laboratory equipment, and vehicle test benches.
  • Experience with machine-learning concepts and practical execution, MLOps tools, and Docker.
  • Experience with MATLAB or similar tools.
  • Ability to travel nationally and internationally; international travel is expected to be less than 10%.
  • Ability to work with tools, scripts, and datasets.
  • Structured, detail-oriented, and consistent approach to testing and documentation.
  • Ability to collaborate across teams and follow documented procedures.
  • Comfort using Windows and Linux command lines.
  • Comfort handling CSV, JSON, and Excel data.
  • Comfort using Git, Jira, and Confluence.
  • Comfort using Ethernet traffic analysis tools.

Nice To Haves

  • Radar or signal-processing coursework or projects.
  • Camera data handling and sensor synchronization.
  • Knowledge of automotive communication protocols and associated tools, including CAN and Ethernet.
  • Familiarity with Python pandas and NumPy, and running model training or evaluation with PyTorch or TensorFlow.

Responsibilities

  • Flash firmware, machine-learning models, and configuration or calibration data onto hardware.
  • Perform sensor and antenna calibration in chambers, laboratory setups, and vehicles, including headliner integration.
  • Collect data in vehicles, laboratory setups, and calibration chambers according to the collection plan.
  • Check data quality after each collection session, including completeness, label accuracy, synchronization, and metadata, and resolve issues.
  • Prepare, check, and organize datasets, including naming, metadata, and indexing, and deliver them to the algorithm team.
  • Run training and evaluation pipelines defined by the algorithm team and vehicle-tuning evaluations for the validation engineer.
  • Run regression tests following software, model, or configuration updates and report results.
  • Write and improve Python scripts for flashing, logging, data conversion, quality checks, and regression automation.
  • Operate and help improve data-collection, visualization, and instrumentation tools.
  • Reproduce reported issues on the bench and capture logs for root-cause analysis.
  • Maintain test setups, fixtures, procedures, and calibration documentation.
  • Manage test logistics, including test subjects, vehicles, and chamber bookings.
  • Support customer demonstrations through setup, execution, and data capture.
  • Perform other duties or projects as assigned.
  • Adhere to the highest ethical standards and Faurecia’s Code of Conduct.

Benefits

  • Career-development opportunities within a global company.
