Interior Radar Development Engineer

Faurecia•Northville, MI

About The Position

The Interior Radar Development Engineer leads technical activities for in-cabin radar development, including validation planning, KPI methodology and reporting, regression testing and release sign-off, OEM test deliverables, root-cause analysis, and vehicle-tuning evaluation for customer programs. The role works closely with the radar lead, algorithm and DSP teams, firmware, tools, customer teams, and suppliers to ensure KPI validation, calibration robustness, and data quality. The engineer serves as a technical reference for internal teams, suppliers, and customers under the radar lead. The role covers system integration testing, KPI definitions, regression strategy, software performance validation on PC and embedded targets, and preparation of customer reports and validation evidence. It also involves evaluating radar performance across seats, occupants, materials, and interference conditions; designing experiments to investigate performance gaps; and recommending ways to improve product performance and KPIs. The position includes vehicle-specific tuning decisions in consultation with the algorithm team, reproducing and investigating reported issues, leading customer demonstrations, and supporting sensor and antenna calibration verification. The engineer also supports regulatory and rating test cases, supplier collaboration, internal training, and guidance of the test and data engineer. Other duties or projects may be assigned.

  • Experience with machine-learning model training and practical execution.
  • Data-fusion experience with radar and camera.
  • Familiarity with radar or RF measurement, calibration, and performance measurement.
  • Data-analysis skills in Python (NumPy, pandas) or MATLAB, and understanding of machine-learning evaluation metrics.
  • Ability to work with electronic hardware, tools, scripts, and datasets.
  • Structured, detail-oriented approach to testing and documentation, with ability to produce clear written reports.
  • Comfort with Windows command-line usage; CSV, JSON, and Excel data handling; Python scripting; Git, Jira, and Confluence; and CAN and Ethernet traffic-analysis tools.
  • Knowledge of automotive radar fundamentals, signal processing, RF front-end basics, and data analysis.
  • ASPICE familiarity and experience, particularly SYS.4 and SYS.5.
  • Familiarity with functional safety (ISO 26262).
  • Knowledge of Euro NCAP child presence detection test protocols.
  • Knowledge of automotive communication protocols and associated tools, including CAN and Ethernet.
