About The Position

The Interim Support Lead is a temporary member of Five Below’s management team who supports the business during its busiest time of year or covers a management team member’s leave of absence. Reporting to the Store Manager, this role helps ensure customers have an outstanding shopping experience and supports front-end operations, cash management, merchandising, store cleanliness, safety, and sales. During assigned shifts, the Support Lead may take on Manager on Duty responsibilities, including responsibility for store operations, staff management, customer service, and urgent issues. The role offers an opportunity to gain leadership experience.

Requirements

High school graduate or equivalent.
At least 1 year of management experience.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to multitask.
Creative thinking.
Ability to maintain composure under pressure.
Ability to work a flexible schedule, including days, evenings, weekends, and potentially overnight shifts; travel may be required.
Ability to identify and understand email and printed instructions regarding merchandise layouts, associate schedules, and standard operating procedures.
Ability to remain in a stationary, upright position for 80% of the time.
Ability to frequently operate a cash register, computer, hand-held device, phone, walkie, and mobile devices.
Ability to frequently move merchandise weighing up to 25 pounds and place or remove merchandise at heights of 5 to 10 feet.
Ability to frequently climb and descend ladders to retrieve and put away stock.
Ability to frequently kneel, bend, twist, and stoop, including in the stock room and on the sales floor.
Ability to frequently move across the sales floor and to and from the stock room while assisting customers and handling merchandise.
Ability to frequently communicate and exchange accurate information with customers, managers, and coworkers in person and by telephone.

Responsibilities

Ensure crew members provide customers with positive personal contact and a welcoming experience.
Train crew members on the B.E.S.T. customer service experience and help ensure guests receive fast, friendly checkout.
Help oversee daily activities of store associates, ensuring they perform their duties effectively and provide excellent customer service.
Assist with receiving, unpacking, and organizing new stock so merchandise is placed efficiently on the sales floor.
Act as Manager on Duty when needed, taking responsibility for store operations, staff management, customer service, and urgent issues.
Manage store opening or closing procedures, including securing cash, locking doors, setting alarms, and preparing for smooth operations.
Support associate onboarding and ongoing training on store policies, product knowledge, and operational procedures.
Drive sales and control expenses by seeking opportunities to improve merchandising, staff performance, and customer service.
Partner with the store leadership team on merchandising procedures and World Recovery.
Perform store maintenance, including taking out garbage, sweeping, cleaning bathrooms, and maintaining the stock room.
Perform additional responsibilities as determined by the Store Manager based on store needs.
