About The Position

The Division of Critical Care Medicine seeks a board-certified/board-eligible Intensivist to provide PRN/Per Diem critical care coverage across multiple clinical sites. The physician will provide flexible coverage as needed at Cooper University Hospital in Camden, Cooper University Hospital Cape Regional, and Inspira Medical Centers. This position offers an opportunity to practice high-quality critical care medicine in diverse settings while supporting patient care needs, departmental staffing requirements, teaching activities, and clinical excellence across the health system. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong clinical judgment, procedural expertise, professionalism, and the ability to adapt to varying patient populations and care environments.

Requirements

  • MD, DO, or equivalent degree.
  • Board Certification or Board Eligibility in Critical Care Medicine.
  • Eligibility for an unrestricted New Jersey medical license.
  • Eligible for credentialing and privileging at Cooper University Hospital, Cooper University Hospital Cape Regional, and Inspira Medical Centers.
  • Ability and willingness to provide flexible PRN/per diem coverage including nights, weekends, and holidays, based on operational needs.
  • Commitment to high-quality patient care and collaborative practice.
  • Demonstrated competency in critical care procedures.

Nice To Haves

  • Independently perform and supervise common critical care bedside procedures, including but not limited to: Central venous and arterial line placement, Endotracheal intubation and advanced airway management, Bronchoscopy, Tube thoracostomy (chest tube placement), Thoracentesis and paracentesis, Lumbar puncture, Point-of-care ultrasound (vascular access, cardiac, thoracic, and abdominal assessment), Temporary hemodialysis/CRRT catheter placement.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive critical care management for patients in intensive care units across assigned clinical sites.
  • Deliver inpatient critical care services including admissions, daily management, consultations, transfers, and discharge planning.
  • Respond to acute patient deterioration, rapid response events, and code situations as required.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including nursing, respiratory therapy, pharmacy, advanced practice providers, and consulting physicians.
  • Ensure safe, evidence-based, and patient-centered care consistent with division protocols and national standards.
  • Support appropriate triage and transfer of patients between facilities when clinically indicated.
  • Maintain flexibility to provide coverage for day, evening, night, weekday, weekend, and holiday shifts based on departmental needs.
  • Complete all clinical documentation accurately and within institutional timeliness standards.
  • Ensure documentation supports quality patient care, billing compliance, and continuity of care.
  • Adhere to all applicable health system policies, regulatory requirements, and medical staff bylaws at each practice location.
  • Participate in quality improvement and patient safety initiatives.
  • Support departmental and institutional goals related to clinical excellence.
  • Demonstrate professionalism, integrity, accountability, and respect in all interactions.
  • Foster collaboration among physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, and ancillary staff.
  • Support a culture of safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement across all affiliated sites.
