About The Position

Registered Nurse for Integrative Care. Our Integrative Care Department partners with inpatient medical teams to go beyond traditional treatments in caring for the whole person – body, mind, spirit. The team includes registered nurses (RNs) and licensed massage therapists (LMTs) with ongoing, advanced clinical training and certifications. Their care is person-centered, relationship-based, and is focused on creating an optimal healing environment for patients and families. They offer: clinical aromatherapy, guided imagery, healing touch/Reiki, mindfulness/mindful practices, relaxation breathing, acupressure, craniosacral therapy, reflexology, relaxation yoga, therapeutic/comfort massage.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in nursing and commitment to BSN.
  • Registered Nurse License in the State of Ohio

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Nursing
  • 2+ years nursing experience
  • Certification in Reiki I or Healing Touch I, Licensed Massage Therapist (LMT) or other related integrative healthcare certification or licensure

Responsibilities

  • Using the nursing process, performs whole person / whole systems assessments of patients and families to identify needs and establish short and/or long-term goals.
  • Facilitates person-centered, relationship-based therapeutic partnership with patient and family, developing plan of care based upon what matters to the patient and family.
  • Provides integrative healthcare education and practices to meet patient and family needs, moving from less to more intensive, to successfully address identified needs and support patient and family wellbeing.
  • Evaluates effectiveness of interventions and modifies care based on results.
  • Communicates relevant patient care information to promote continuity of care.
  • Participates in patient care conferences and/or rounds.
  • Applies basic problem-solving skills including the ability to anticipate changing patient needs.
  • Reports suspicions of abuse and neglect as mandated for investigation.
  • Promotes and supports pain and symptom management.
  • Documents services and/or interventions provided.
  • Follows up on referrals in a timely manner.
  • Competently prioritizes workflow based on integrative nursing assessment of patient/family care needs and other responsibilities.
  • Submits requests for supplies to support integrative nursing healthcare practice with patients, families and staff according to division guidelines.
  • Ensures that work areas are organized, safe and professional in appearance for employees, patients and families, including designated integrative care rooms.
  • Identifies potential problems, addresses barriers, assumes ownership of problem-solving, and solves problems at the lowest possible level, demonstrating accountability for self and others.
  • Completes special assignments and projects while maintaining patient, family and staff-related integrative healthcare practice.
  • Strives to increase personal productivity by identifying and implementing new work procedures where appropriate.
  • Proactively contributes to a positive work environment.
  • Supports and participates in performance improvement activities.
  • Seeks opportunities for involvement in evidence-based care/professional inquiry in integrative nursing and integrative healthcare as a core component of maintaining professional nursing knowledge.
  • Actively contributes to the advancement of professional tenets within the division, hospital, and/or community.
  • Orients and supervises volunteers.
  • Contributes to education and training of students and other healthcare professionals, including nurses and physicians.

  • Integrates new nursing and integrative healthcare knowledge and skills into professional nursing practice.
