About The Position

Element451 is an AI-native CRM and agent platform for higher education. The Integrations Architect owns the integration workstream during implementation and supports the reliability of data flows after launch in partnership with Customer Success and Support. The role serves as the technical bridge between Element451 and campus IT, translating institutional systems and requirements into mappings, validations, and repeatable integration setups. This is a deeply technical, non-production-coding role involving API testing, troubleshooting authentication and synchronization failures, validating data integrity, and creating runbooks to prevent recurring issues. The architect configures, validates, and launches API and batch/flat-file integrations; leads data-mapping and governance work; diagnoses and resolves integration problems; and builds reusable practices and documentation to improve reliability and implementation scale. Integrations are the role's core responsibility, rather than general implementation, software engineering, or passive ticket triage.

Requirements

  • 3–6 years of experience in integrations, technical support, data operations, implementation engineering, or a similar role, with APIs as a core responsibility.
  • Strong REST/API fundamentals, including reading documentation, testing endpoints, debugging, handling errors, pagination, and rate limits.
  • Comfort with authentication patterns such as OAuth2, API keys, and tokens, and with common authentication failure modes.
  • Experience with SFTP, CSV, and batch integration workflows, along with rigorous data-mapping and validation practices.
  • Strong written communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly with campus IT and precisely with internal teams.

Nice To Haves

  • Working familiarity with higher-education SIS/ERP concepts and terminology.
  • Experience with systems such as Banner, Colleague, PeopleSoft, Workday Student, or Jenzabar.

Responsibilities

  • Configure, validate, and launch integrations between Element451 and institutional systems, including SIS, ERP, financial aid, and third-party systems.
  • Implement and maintain batch workflows when APIs are unavailable, including SFTP, CSV specifications, schedules, transformations, normalization, and validation.
  • Coordinate integration timelines with Implementation Leads, align work to go-live milestones, and address dependencies early.
  • Lead mapping sessions with campus IT and functional stakeholders to establish field definitions, formats, transformations, and systems of record.
  • Define data-quality standards and validation checks for downstream automation, segmentation, reporting, and AI agents.
  • Document mappings, assumptions, and edge cases for use by Customer Success and Support after launch.
  • Diagnose integration issues using logs, error payloads, and testing tools such as Postman.
  • Identify root causes involving authentication, endpoints, payload formatting, source data, or scheduling.
  • Resolve issues independently where possible and escalate to Engineering when necessary, providing reproduction steps, impact, and supporting artifacts.
  • Establish monitoring practices and proactive checks to detect failures before customers report them.
  • Build and maintain integration runbooks, troubleshooting playbooks, and guides to known failure modes.
  • Create reusable integration patterns for common higher-education system combinations to reduce time to go live.
  • Report recurring issues and integration friction to Product and Engineering as structured patterns and signals.
  • Support integration go-live success, integration health, faster issue resolution, lower Engineering escalation rates, complete and usable documentation, and scalable implementation patterns.
