About The Position

The Intake Specialist is a direct care position in Sheppard Pratt’s Rehabilitation and Recovery programs, which serve community members living with serious mental illness. The role uses independent judgment to assess clients and enroll them in appropriate services when they enter the programs, helping ensure successful transitions. Services may support clients in obtaining housing, employment, mental health care, and other resources.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• At least 1 year of positively referenced related work experience.
• Knowledge of best practices in psychiatric rehabilitation and crisis intervention.
• Knowledge and experience in assessment, treatment planning, and interventions for people with serious mental illness, including co-occurring disorders.
• Basic knowledge of Social Security benefits and medical assistance.
• Driver’s license with 3 points or fewer and access to an insured vehicle.

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Educate clients and their families or support systems about available services.
• Provide linkages to outside providers as needed.
• Complete administrative tasks related to internal and external enrollment requirements.
• Provide transportation for clients from state hospitals to Rehabilitation and Recovery programs.
