About The Position

Bright Beginnings provides services in Cuyahoga County and across the State of Ohio that support families in helping their children grow, learn, and develop to their fullest potential. The Intake Specialist talks with pregnant individuals and families with young children, including those with developmental delays and disabilities, to explain services they may be eligible for and connect them to Early Intervention, Home Visiting, Family Connects Ohio, and other services as part of the Help Me Grow system of supports. The Intake Specialist manages incoming and outgoing contacts, processes referrals, gathers information to help determine referral and/or program eligibility, schedules visits as applicable, and assigns referrals while creating records according to departmental guidelines.

Requirements

  • Minimum of two years of customer service experience over the phone in an applicable industry such as health, education, social service, government, or early childhood.
  • Minimum of one year working in a fast-paced, real-time data entry environment.
  • Basic skill level in Microsoft Office applications (e.g., word processing), email applications, and internet usage.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and use appropriate judgment in handling information and records.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and assignments.
  • Ability to establish and maintain a comprehensive record-keeping system and office procedures.
  • Ability to express self effectively and concisely, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to tactfully and effectively deal with the public, staff and patrons in a friendly and professional manner.
  • Ability to work independently with general direction.
  • Data entry and keyboarding at 35 words per minute.
  • Ability to demonstrate a high attention to detail and good follow-up skills.
  • Must be an Ohio resident at the time of employment.
  • Bilingual candidates only: Must be able to speak and write fluently in Spanish and English.

Nice To Haves

  • Intermediate skill level in Microsoft Office applications (e.g., word processing), email applications, and internet usage.
  • Experience with Adobe Acrobat Pro and communication software (such as RingCentral, Zoom, and Microsoft Teams).
  • Associate Degree.
  • Bilingual (Spanish and English).
