Intake Medical Assistant (part-time)
About The Position
Vanguard Skin Specialists is seeking an Intake Medical Assistant (MA) who shares their mission of making a positive impact on patients, the community, and the world. Requirements
- Proven track record of working well on teams and delivering excellence.
- Excellent verbal and written skills required.
- Alignment with the values and mission of Vanguard Skin Specialists.
- Ability to sit, stand, and/or walk for up to 10 hours.
- Ability to lift up to 25-50 pounds.
- Ability to operate a computer and other office machinery, such as a calculator, printer, copier, scanner, or fax.
- Ability to communicate accurately, effectively and frequently.
- Ability to identify color on the computer and software used.
- Successful pre-employment screening, including background check, drug screen, employment and education or licensure/certification verification, and/or governmental registry checks.

- Customer service experience a plus.
Responsibilities
- Escort patients to exam rooms.
- Take detailed medical histories.
- Document medications.
- Confirm reason for patient visits.
- Take vital signs as needed.
- Document appropriately in the electronic medical record (EMR).
- Communicate patient reason for visit and medical summary to medical providers accurately and efficiently.
- Speak with patients over the phone regarding biopsy results, medication prior authorization status, and other patient questions and concerns (as directed).
- Document calls and prior authorizations in the EMR.
- Draw up medications as directed.
- Perform instrument sterilization and processing.
- Other duties as assigned, including clinic maintenance tasks.
